Music in the Courtyards September 2010

Playing in the courtyards from 12.30 - 3.00 - here's the line up for September Sundays -

  • 12th  Phil Harris, Minor Swing
  • 19th  Jon Diver
  • 26th  Daniel Gerrard

Phil Harris – Minor Swing is a band that allows Phil to explore his love of the music of Django Reinhardt. The band evolved from the group Café Nuage, a mainly classical and finger style jazz duo he formed with aspiring pupil Stuart Carter-Smith, now of Gypsy Fire. Minor Swing went on to tour extensively, including six trips to America, and have a list of high profile gigs to their credit from London to Los Angeles. You can expect hot club swing, bebop and the mellow tones of cool blues and bossa.

John Diver – John plays electric and nylon strung guitar in a wide range of styles from Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Country, Classical, Latin and Flamenco. He’s always trying new types of music and prides himself on being adaptable.

Daniel Gerrard has been playing guitar professionally for 17 years, starting out in blues, rock n' roll and pop music & more recently moving on to Flamenco/Gypsy music. After discovering busking, taking out his brand of dual guitar (recording his own backing track) he travelled to Barcelona in 2002, busking throughout the day in front of various restaurants, and gigging or jamming throughout the night. Now back on UK soil Daniel continues to play, write and record, the latest being the tracks he recorded at Lyndon Greedy's studio in Bristol.
