This year’s Bath Prize exhibition will be the best yet. The judges will choose from more than 375 works depicting locations in the City and the show at The Octagon will be something very special. Michael Porter from the Bath Gallery, one of the competition sponsors, is delighted with the response from painters across the country.
They have come to Bath during the summer and produced a remarkable portrait of the City with work in a wide variety of styles and media. Many painters were attracted by the prospect of the £6,000 top prize; all were attracted by the artistic potential of the City’s views and architecture and the chance to be part of ‘Britain’s most enjoyable painting competition’.
"That enjoyment shines through in the works that will be on display", commented Mr Porter. Both experienced professional painters and talented amateurs find that the character of the Bath streets brings out the best in their work. As a result the paintings on show and on sale will include something to attract everyone interested in representational art at prices ranging from less than £200 to more than £3,000.
Open Mon-Sat 10-5pm. Sunday 12-4, at the Octagon Chapel, Milsom Place.
